Black Models Speak was founded by Kiara Ailene in response to the deep lack of unity within the Black model community. After being told at castings, “Don’t stand too close to the other Black models—there’s only one spot for Blacks,” she recognized the systemic barriers designed to divide and silence.

This intentional separation has allowed the fashion industry to exploit, underpay, and disrespect Black models without consequence. Because when the community is divided, no one wins.

Black Models Speak exists to change that.

We are a safe space for Black models to speak openly, connect deeply, and stand united. We elevate conversations around discrimination and embedded racism in fashion, foster collaboration between Black models and other creatives, and uplift brands that champion true inclusivity.

Together, we’re not just speaking — we’re building a movement.
